REVOLUTION BOOKS, ON 26TH STREET IN MANHATTAN, NEVER LOST POWER AND BECAME A REFUGE FOR MANY RESIDENTS AND COMMUNITY ACTIVISTS, WHO CAME TO CHARGE THEIR CELL PHONES AND GATHER INTERNET NEWS FROM READERS OF THE "REVOLUTION" NEWSPAPER, WHO WERE SPONTANEOUSLY TURNING IN STREET REPORTS FROM THE MOST STRICKEN NEIGHBORHOODS, FROM CONEY ISLAND TO THE SOUTH SHORE OF STATEN ISLAND TO THE LOWER EAST SIDE PROJECTS.
THESE REPORTS HELPED SHED SOME LIGHT ON THE DESPERATE SITUATION EXPERIENCED BY COMMUNITIES LARGELY OVERLOOKED BY MOST MEDIA OUTLETS.
