SEN. WARREN PROPOSES STUDENT LOAN RELIEF

Massachusetts Senator ELIZABETH WARREN held a national conference call to promote her "Bank on Student Loans Fairness Act," which would subsidize new student borrowers at 0.75% interest - the same rate as banks. Current student loan rates are scheduled to double to nearly seven percent at the end of this month.

A MEMORIAL FOR IBRAHIM GONZALEZ

On the evening of June 3rd, 2013, our dear friend and WBAI colleague Ibrahim Gonzalez passed away at home, in his sleep. Ibrahim was known both personally and institutionally as the "Mambo Dervish," based on his skill as a bandleader and conga player, for his devotion to Sufi Islam, and for his free-form and musical programs "In The Moment" and "Radio Libre!"
