Local Indian Classical Veena player, and master dance instructor Uma Ettigi will join us with her student Radhika to discuss how Indian Classical dance is taught, and the relationship that music has to the dances.
Radhika will be "graduating" from her many years of dance studies this August 1st at 3pm at Collegiate School. This Graduation is called a "Bharatanatyam Arangetram"
A very special group of Indian musicians are being flown in from Chennai for this event, which aims to "sustain and propagate the great art and culture of Indian Classical Dance" according to miss Uma Ettigi.
( Uma-Ji performed several pieces on Veena - live in our old broadcast studio - last year on "If Music Could Talk". That performance can be heard here: http://www.radio4all.net/index.php/program/76227 )
