July is a great time to watch one of Wisconsin’s largest birds raise its young. Sandhill crane eggs hatch in May and the young, called “colts,” begin flying in July. Common today, they almost disappeared from Wisconsin at one point. Hear more about the beautiful bird on our podcast.
